## What you need to know

Review camera overrides and historical uploads before reporting a cloud-storage region change as complete.

## Potentially affected

Applies to Verkada camera image and video cloud storage settings. This article does not determine contractual residency obligations or assert that a region change moves or deletes existing data.

## DSE recommendation

DSE recommends building a camera-by-camera residency worksheet before changing the default.

## Article

Review camera overrides and historical uploads before reporting a cloud-storage region change as complete.

## Source facts

Verkada allows an organization default for cloud storage of camera image and video data and a per-camera selection. The per-camera setting takes precedence over the organization default. The documented region change is not retroactive: only data uploaded after the selection uses the new location. For storage-only regions, including Canada and South Korea, processing remains in the organization’s primary processing region: United States, European Union, or Australia. A single organization-level dropdown therefore does not describe every camera or every existing upload.

## Applicability

Applies to Verkada camera image and video cloud storage settings. This article does not determine contractual residency obligations or assert that a region change moves or deletes existing data.

## DSE recommendation

DSE recommends building a camera-by-camera residency worksheet before changing the default. Record explicit overrides, the approved region, the effective change time, and how pre-change uploads will be handled. Have the responsible privacy or contract owner evaluate processing separately from storage. Do not report the entire organization as migrated merely because the default was saved. Include new cameras in the review so inherited settings and deliberate exceptions remain distinguishable.

## Verification

Inspect a sample of explicitly overridden cameras and cameras intended to inherit the default. Retain configuration evidence and the change time. Ask the vendor to clarify any unresolved historical-data requirement before claiming completion; a newly selected region alone cannot prove that older uploads were relocated.
