## What you need to know

Inventory the reception tablet as its own licensed, claimed device and proof its tiles during a real test call.

## Potentially affected

Applies to Verkada Desk Station deployment and the documented iPad workflow. An installed app alone is not a claimed, licensed, and appropriately configured reception station.

## DSE recommendation

DSE recommends assigning an owner and physical location to every station before distributing tablets.

## Article

Inventory the reception tablet as its own licensed, claimed device and proof its tiles during a real test call.

## Source facts

The Verkada Desk Station app turns an iPad into a separately claimed receiver device. The setup guide requires a license for each iPad, uses the app-displayed serial number to add it to Command, and assigns a name and site. Configurable tiles display intercoms, camera feeds, and door-unlock controls. The guide permits up to 40 paired devices with four displayed simultaneously. On iOS 26 it specifies Banner incoming-call presentation so the native call screen does not obscure the app.

## Applicability

Applies to Verkada Desk Station deployment and the documented iPad workflow. An installed app alone is not a claimed, licensed, and appropriately configured reception station.

## DSE recommendation

DSE recommends assigning an owner and physical location to every station before distributing tablets. Build a deliberate tile list for that reception position and remove doors the operator should not control. Include licensing and device claim status in handoff documentation. Configure the tablet so normal incoming calls preserve the expected entry-review view, and train staff to distinguish the intercom tile from a separate camera or door tile. Revisit the layout after a reception-role change.

## Verification

Place a test call to the intended station, inspect the video presentation, and verify the correct door control with an authorized observer at the door. Confirm only the approved tiles are available. Include a call after an OS update so a changed native call screen is detected before reception relies on it.
