## What you need to know

Approve a per-port camera allocation and confirm explicit pairing before counting its AI-enabled channels.

## Potentially affected

Applies to the AI Port accessory and the camera/stream matrix in its current FAQ. This concerns channel allocation and pairing, not a guarantee that every camera or recognition task is supported.

## DSE recommendation

DSE recommends preparing a per-port allocation sheet with camera family, resolution, stream rate, and intended detection functions.

## Article

Approve a per-port camera allocation and confirm explicit pairing before counting its AI-enabled channels.

## Source facts

UniFi AI Port camera capacity depends on camera type and resolution, and its FAQ says third-party cameras cannot be mixed with Protect cameras on one AI Port. A directly connected camera still needs explicit pairing in Protect; physical attachment alone does not complete configuration. The FAQ also excludes Protect AI-series cameras, limits supported stream resolution and frame rate, and identifies limitations for very wide multi-sensor aspect ratios. Compatibility and pairing therefore need checking before counting every connected camera as an AI-enabled channel.

## DSE recommendation

DSE recommends preparing a per-port allocation sheet with camera family, resolution, stream rate, and intended detection functions. Keep third-party and Protect allocations separate and verify each exact model against the current FAQ. Do not infer support from an Ethernet connection or the fact that the camera already records normally. Pair a representative camera first and confirm its required detections before purchasing or assigning the remaining accessories.

## Verification

Inspect the AI Port pairing list, compare it with the allocation sheet, and check that the intended camera produces the required detection controls and events. Confirm the configured stream fits the documented limits. Record unsupported models and aspect ratios explicitly instead of troubleshooting them as ordinary network failures.
