## What you need to know

Check which streams and functions Protect actually imports before promising a third-party camera integration.

## Potentially affected

Use this guide when evaluating a third-party camera for Protect. Confirm the current support article against the installed camera firmware and Protect release.

## DSE recommendation

Before ordering equipment, DSE recommends a feature acceptance sheet covering each sensor, live view, recorded playback, motion events, audio, and PTZ where required.

## Article

Check which streams and functions Protect actually imports before promising a third-party camera integration.

## Source facts

Ubiquiti documents support for third-party ONVIF cameras, including motion detections, PTZ, and audio, with other advanced features unsupported. Protect selects the highest- and lowest-quality streams; those serve different viewing and playback uses. Audio requires transcoding and may consume additional console resources. Multisensor cameras currently contribute one selected stream. Changes to camera streams after adoption require removing and adding the camera again for Protect to update them.

## Applicability

## DSE recommendation

Before ordering equipment, DSE recommends a feature acceptance sheet covering each sensor, live view, recorded playback, motion events, audio, and PTZ where required. Record the expected stream for every view rather than accepting a successful thumbnail as completion. Set stream parameters before adoption. If readoption becomes necessary, plan its recording and configuration impact with the owner. Include console resource observations in the pilot instead of assuming that camera count alone predicts capacity.

## Verification

On a representative camera, compare the expected sensor and image detail in live view, multiview, and playback. Trigger an approved motion test. Save firmware, stream settings, observed results, and any unsupported requirement with the commissioning record.
