Offline Files keeps local cached copies of network files and synchronizes changes with the server after connectivity returns. Microsoft’s Always Offline procedure enables the Configure slow-link mode Group Policy setting and sets its latency threshold to one millisecond. Applicability

Use this review for a defined set of clients using Offline Files and redirected folders. Identify the cached data, client owners, and required synchronization behavior. Review the current policy requirements before adopting the source’s configuration.

DSE recommendation

Select a pilot user and representative files whose expected contents can be checked at both endpoints. Record the existing slow-link policy and explain why Always Offline is desired. Plan connected and disconnected work, including the transition back to connectivity. Keep metered-network synchronization permission as a separate policy decision and tell support staff which behavior is being tested.

Verification

Inspect the effective policy on the pilot client and perform the agreed file edits. Compare local and server copies after the intended synchronization point. Record the connection conditions and any conflict or delayed update. Resolve discrepancies before expanding the policy, and retain the tested configuration with the user-data acceptance record.
