Executive summary

What you need to know

Specify the exact server, phone, version, and required functions instead of approving a manufacturer name alone.

Potentially affected

Applies to the validation combinations listed in the Verkada interoperability manual, including its TD52 discussion. A listed manufacturer name is not a claim that all of that manufacturer’s products were validated.

DSE recommendation

DSE recommends making the procurement and acceptance record show the exact server version, phone model, and required functions.

Source facts

Verkada’s intercom interoperability manual lists validated SIP servers separately from validated phone models. The tables identify versions and distinguish video, audio, and DTMF support rather than presenting compatibility as one undifferentiated check. Unlisted providers or phones are referred to Verkada Support. A separate speaker table lists tested connection types. For USB and auxiliary-connected Desk Station speakers, the manual says the speaker’s answer/hangup buttons do not operate calls; operators must use the Desk Station controls.

Applicability

Applies to the validation combinations listed in the Verkada interoperability manual, including its TD52 discussion. A listed manufacturer name is not a claim that all of that manufacturer’s products were validated.

DSE recommendation

DSE recommends making the procurement and acceptance record show the exact server version, phone model, and required functions. Resolve gaps with the vendor before ordering a fleet or promising video reception on an audio-only path. Include operator controls in the review when an external speaker is used. Distinguish a validated combination from a new combination that the project still needs to test, and preserve any vendor clarification with the design.

Verification

Check the current rows for both server and phone, then test video, speech, DTMF unlocking, and call-ending controls independently on the actual combination. Have an operator answer and finish a call using the installed speaker arrangement. Record unsupported or untested functions explicitly rather than using a blanket compatible label.
