Give outdoor installers a written lightning protocol: stop at thunder, shelter, and wait 30 minutes

NWS says no place outside is safe during thunderstorms, and an OSHA and NOAA fact sheet says employers should put a written lightning safety protocol for outdoor workers in their emergency action plan, covering warnings, safe shelters, response times and when to suspend and resume work. NWS says to stay sheltered 30 minutes after the last thunder.

Plan Wi-Fi security around WPA3, Protected Management Frames and Enhanced Open instead of legacy modes

The Wi-Fi Alliance makes WPA3 mandatory for Wi-Fi CERTIFIED devices and requires Protected Management Frames on all new certified devices. WPA3 disallows outdated protocols, and Wi-Fi Enhanced Open encrypts traffic on guest networks without a shared passphrase.

Set up and inspect portable ladders the way OSHA 1926.1053 requires before every camera or reader install

OSHA’s construction ladder standard sets concrete rules that low-voltage installers use daily: rails 3 feet above a landing, a one-quarter setback angle, nonconductive rails near energized equipment, no standing on the top step, three-point climbing and tagging defective ladders out of service.

Choose drone detection sensors by site conditions, and keep detection separate from counter-drone action

CISA’s November 2025 detection guidance separates drone detection from counter-drone mitigation, compares acoustic, camera, radar and RF sensors, and asks buyers to get legal review, check false-positive rates and fit detection into existing security plans.

Inspect, clean and reinspect every fiber end face under IEC 61300-3-35:2022 before mating

Contaminated fiber end faces cause loss and reflections and can dirty equipment ports. The 2022 edition of IEC 61300-3-35 simplifies the workflow: clear the contact area, grade only the core and cladding, and let passing loss tests decide.
