Have the architect, door specialist, access-control designer, accessibility lead, fire/life-safety authority, and owner identify applicable requirements. Create a matrix for normal access, authorized activation, denied access, loss of building power, standby power, fire alarm, emergency release, lockdown where permitted, and restoration. For each state, define operator motion, lock and latch condition, clear width, manual force, breakout behavior, alarm, monitoring, and responsible authority.
Test with approved procedures that do not compromise occupied-building egress. Verify that restoration does not leave the door unlocked, trapped, faulted, or moving unexpectedly. Correct one system only after checking its effect on the complete opening.
Verification and evidence
Retain approved drawings, hardware and power schedules, applicable-code determination, state matrix, inspection and test reports, measurements, alarm and PACS logs, video of test motion where authorized, deficiency tickets, and authority sign-off. Re-test after changes to locks, operators, controls, fire alarm, standby power, or software logic.
